How do student qualify for RTI:
Three times a year, all students are assessed in language arts and math. Those screening measures, along with teacher input and team information helps determine who is recommended for response to intervention support. Students who qualify typically have scored below the 21st%ile nationally on the NWEA MAP assessment, below the 25th%ile nationally on AIMSweb assessments or are constantly not preforming to grade level standards within the classroom despite general education teacher attempts to modify and accommodate.
What if I am concerned with my student's progress:
Contact your child's teacher if you feel that they are not performing well or developing the needed academic skills. Their teacher may have more insight into the difficulty and he/she should be able to generate strategies and suggestions for both the classroom and home to help strengthen any areas of need. If you feel that you have not received enough support, please contact Bill Fredricksen, building principal, to express your concerns.
